Multistep glazing and firing process invests Marbury's vintage-inspired shapes with a fresh, handcrafted look. Each earthenware piece is dipped in a black-stained clay slip that gets absorbed into the unfired clay body to create a colored surface. Pieces are then dipped into a translucent white glaze, which must be stirred with each dipping to ensure its transparency, to allow the underlying black to show through and accentuate the rims and saucer-like shaping.
