The simple, classic shape of our Caspian mug puts the focus on its beautiful reactive blue glaze. Undergoing chemical changes during firing, the glaze produces one-of-a-kind patterns and luminous, variable blue tones. As it cascades down on the creamy white surface, the glaze transitions from aqua to cobalt, peppered throughout with unique markings and crackles. This intentional and desirable crazing occurs during firing, and the craquelure can develop more complexity over the years whenever the raw natural materials expand and contract. The glaze and its effects are food-safe but may temporarily discolor with certain foods.
