From learning watercolor techniques from his grandfather to photographing backyard birds with a camera gifted by his father, Daniel Barreto grew up surrounded by a family steeped in and supportive of the arts. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he currently resides, Barreto studied art fundamentals at Instituto Cultural Caban~as in Guadalajara, attended community college classes in Houston and, then, earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/TUFTS in Boston.
