Recalling time spent wandering as a child through a thicket of trees that surrounded her home, artist Alexandra Carter recreates the memory as a hazy stand of trees. Although appearing as a traditional watercolor, the work is the result of an unusual technique by which Carter applies pools of ink to drafting film, allowing the pigment to traverse across the non-porous surface in unpredictable ways. This giclée reproduction of the original painting is printed on paper and hand signed by the artist. Presented in a single white mat, the print is framed in charcoal-stained wood.
Alexandra White earned a bachelor's degree in studio art from Rhodes College in Tennessee. Currently based in Los Angeles, she has exhibited in numerous group shows around the country and was an artist-in-residence at the Proyecto Ace Foundation in Buenos Aires.
